As is known, the Rebbe oftentimes expressed disappointment over the fact that summers weren’t fully utilized for educating children. At one farbrengen, Erev Shavuos 5733, the Rebbe focused on one point: While overnight camps were serving thousands of children, still “so many boys remain in the city, at home, without any learning!”
The Rebbe’s vision was simple. “There are teachers available, and unfortunately the Roshei Yeshivos are also available in the summer, so they could be hired to teach children!”
Heeding the Rebbe’s call, Tzeirei Hatmimim Summer Program was founded with this mission in mind: to hire experienced teachers, to teach small classes, and to provide afternoon activities in a chassidishe environment.
